What needs doing between Alternating plan cleanings?

Understand the homeowner work between full cleanings on an Alternating pool plan, and decide whether that shared routine fits your week.

Start with the cleaning gap

An Alternating plan works when someone in the household can handle the physical cleaning needed between the scheduled full cleanings. Deep Blue Pools visits weekly on this plan, but full cleaning happens every other week, with chemical-service visits between. That distinction matters more than the word weekly. For a Hutto homeowner, the useful question is whether brushing, skimming and other agreed cleaning tasks have a realistic owner during the intervening week. If the answer is simply that somebody will get around to it, the arrangement needs more thought before it becomes your routine.

Put actual tasks beside actual people

Write down the physical jobs your pool currently needs and ask which the full-cleaning visit covers. Then identify who handles each job outside that visit. Do not assume a chemical-service visit provides a second complete physical cleaning. Baskets and equipment checks are included in Chemical Service, alongside testing and balancing, but that does not make it a substitute for full cleaning. A written division can be very short: one adult handles surface debris, another handles the agreed brushing work, and one person contacts the provider if a problem exceeds those ordinary tasks.

Use an ordinary busy week as the test

Imagine the week containing a late meeting, an evening appointment and a household chore that runs long. The plan should still make sense in that week. Someone who likes pool work on an empty Saturday may have no workable time when Saturday fills up. Look at the equipment you already use, the effort each task requires and the amount of cleanup afterward. You do not need an invented minute allowance. Your own experience is a better guide to whether the household can repeat the work without regularly moving it to tomorrow.

Separate a change in workload from a missed task

A single difficult week does not establish that Alternating is wrong for you. A repeating pattern of unfinished physical cleaning is more useful evidence. Keep a simple note of what needed attention, what you completed and what remained before the next full-cleaning visit. Describe what you can see rather than diagnosing a chemical or equipment problem. If the amount of cleaning grows beyond your routine, discuss the observations with Deep Blue Pools. Do not keep the same division merely because the original arrangement sounded affordable when you first compared the plans.

Choose the handoff you can sustain

Alternating is $185 per month plus chemicals; Full Service is $225 per month plus chemicals. The $40 base-price difference is a concrete comparison, but it does not assign a dollar value to your time or promise identical chemical charges. Consider whether keeping that physical work is a deliberate choice you can sustain. Before starting, confirm the cleaning sequence and household responsibilities by phone. If the gap between full cleanings has no dependable owner, ask about Full Service and establish what attention you should still give the pool between weekly visits.
